Celebrations were in order as we took Silver at this years Gullblyanten. The award was for the brand communication project that Pål Laukli and I did for Canon. Gold went to the George Clooney ad' which we could never contend with so it's a result to be proud of. Well done to all the team!

I've always admired the high regard that the Swedes have for Art Direction, the title seems to carry more meaning for them and you see it in the confident simplicity of their work. This is an example by Thomas Persson - not a photoshop effect in sight...

There's been a lot of chat about the new DC brand identity by Landor, with criticism declaring the "page turning" look suggesting the outmoded comic page format. Personally I don'y know what all the fuss is about, I think its a smart way to subtly acknowledge their heritage whilst providing a perfect opportunity to provide some animation for the digital media. The best feature of the identity (even though MTV have done it for decades) is the facility to keep it alive with ever changing imagery. Who could begrudge DC showing off character like Batman and Watchmen. Nice one Landor!

It's always good when architects and designers collaborate on environments as can be seen on this solution by Marque for Zaha Hadid's Riverside Museum. I can understand an architect's resistance, they don't want their space 'messed' with, but good way finding can make or break a visitor attraction. Cartlidge Levene are good at this stuff too if you want to see more of how it should be done.

Great to see the development of Hewlett Packard in the safe hands of Moving Brands. As I recall the last version of their identity wasn't done too long ago, but this more streamlined version suits the simpler direction the brand is taking. This seems like a great way for HP to assert themselves after endless product launches with very little 'joined up thinking' - watch this space...

H&M dedicated a whole floor of their flagship store in central Oslo to present the Maya Vik project by myself and photographer Pål Laukli. Maya works as a consultant with the brand so it was a natural venue for the exhibition. I'm pleased with the t shirts I designed for the event so I'll get those on the site as soon as I get some flown over. Thanks to H&M for what I'm told was a great evening!
